World Lore
- The setting is a modern city bigger than New York called Prthian where humans and faes live and work and crime together in ‘peace’
- There are seven ‘courts’ that rule the city with an eighth being for the humans that hold no real power because they don’t have magic
- The Night Court is the biggest and most powerful which Rhysand of course rules
- Spring Court is the smallest and weakest of the courts with Tamlin trying to gain power and influence any way he can
- It is said that the Night Court is a death sentence for any human as the ‘evil dark lord’ can not stand humans and has them hunted down
- On top of Fae and Human species and the fun dynamics that brings we also have Alpha/Beta/Omegas
- Both Fae and Humans can be all three but Alpha Humans have no power
- Fae males gain power based on what they show as Alpha/Beta/Omega
- Omegas are rare and sought after because if an Alpha bonds an Omega they become even more powerful
- For some reason that I haven’t thought of yet Omega Humans have the ability to turn Fae when they bond with a fae Alpha
More to be added
Feyre Archeron had not had an easy life even though she was the youngest of three girls and her family was well off at one point. She lost her mother at a young age and her father lost what wealth they had shortly after that. So with a father that couldn’t work and two sisters that didn’t know how Feyre took on the responsibility of making enough for her family.
She took to the streets and the first couple of years taught her a lot of hard life lessons. But Feyre refused to give up and let her family starve. She became a thief, learning to pickpocket almost anyone, and then learned to spot the people who had more money than they really needed. Those people received a special visit from Feyre. She was good at being a thief and became better the more she did it.
There was one major drawback and that was when she Showed as an Omega when puberty hit her. All of her family were Betas and she assumed she was just like them. But life was cruel. Omegas were sought after: hunted down and forced to bond Alphas and Feyre didn’t want that life. She couldn’t help her family if she was taken away.
So her solution was to take an easy to come by suppressor that caused her to come off as a Beta . But being on the suppressor was not good for an Omega especially if they took it long term like Feyre was. She had been taking it for years and her health was being affected by it.
But what was going to drive her to an early grave was her family. Her father thought he could get their money back and had promised a large amount to the Spring Court High Lord Tamlin. Well whatever scheme her father had been counting on fell through and they ended up losing everything. Tamlin was going to kill them all when Feyre offered herself up to the Fae. As payment and to be his thief. The only thing she wanted in return was the promise that her family would be looked after.
A deal was struck and Tamling took Feyre ‘home’ not knowing that he had an Omega within his reach. And to test her and see how skilled Feyre was as a thief he ordered her to steal from the High Lord of the Dark Court: Rhysand.
Feyre had argued against the order and Tamlin had to threaten her family to get her to agree to do what he had commanded.
Knowing she was going to die but at least her family would be taken care of, Feyre started to study the dark High Lord and his home. She found a way in and out pretty quickly because who would be stupid enough to steal from the Dark Lord as everyone called him.
So on the night when there was no moon, Feyre silently slipped into Rhysand’s office through the third story window, and silently prayed to the Goddess as she looked for something to steal that hopefully the Dark Lord wouldn’t notice missing.

"Shall I proceed with capture?" His security asked through the intercom.
Rhysand thought about it, going through the various scenarios. Of course, the balls required to sneak in had to be massive. Was she desperate? That had to be it. Who else would be stupid enough, or foolish enough, to do something like this?
"No. I'll see to it personally," he responded, cutting off the feed. His eyes went back to the monitor as he studied her movements, mildly impressed by the amount of stealth she carried. What exactly was she looking for? She was bypassing all the really large, expensive pieces, of course. One wouldn't be able to sneak out with something large and clunky. But if she was looking for something small, why? Was it for bragging rights? It had to be for bragging rights!
Eyes still trained on the screen, he quickly changed into something that was a little under business casual and headed out to the office at a casual pace. The security feed had been transferred to his phone so he could continue watching the little thief hunt for something. The filing cabinets were locked and while the paperwork could be of value, he thought that perhaps she wasn't looking for blackmail material. It made the entire thing all the more intriguing and he decided then that he would let her steal whatever it was she was going to steal, then track her down and get to the bottom of this event. It wouldn't hurt to have someone else under his watchful gaze, after all. And in the end she might prove to be an asset. He would have to wait and see.

But Tamlin wanted something that was the Dark Lord’s and he wanted no doubts about the ownership. So she needed to find something fast.
Except the thick scent of a powerful Alpha that filled the room, that lingered on the desk and chair, was completely and utterly distracting. It drew her to the desk as her inner omega tried to push through the suppressors. No, that couldn’t happen.
Trying to stay calm, Feyra started to go through his desk draws. There had to be something here. And luck seemed to be on her side when she came upon a ring box in the bottom draw. It was almost like the lord of the house had forgotten it there. Perfect.
She opened the small box and took the beautiful ring inside of it. She tucked it safely away before putting the box back.
Feyre made the mistake of taking a deep breath to calm herself because that meant she had taken a lungful of the Alpha’s scent. Not good. She could feel her body start to ache which meant she no doubt would be leaving a scent behind.
Without hesitation, knowing the patrols well, Feyre slipped out of the window and went off into the dark night. She would head straight back to Tamlin’s, an Alpha that barely got a reaction out of her omega, and her family would be safe.
Feyre couldn’t believe that she had stolen from the High Lord of the Night Court and got away with it.

He paused, watching her breath and something....something. There was just something about that pause that made him pay attention. He wondered what this woman was doing. Any beta wouldn't pause like that-they had no receptors for the pheromones that Alphas and Omegas emitted like a second language. Now the question was which one was she? Alpha, more than likely, which made him even more intrigued. Why prove themselves by stealing something from another Alpha? Perhaps it was a rite of passage thing. It would make sense, he supposed, with the newer generations itching for riskier tasks to prove their worth.
Whelps.
Timestamping that interesting scene of her breathing, Rhys picked up the step to his office, switching his phone to call his security. "Don't intercept her, but track her. I want to know where she goes and if she's in tandem with someone or operating solo. I want to see to this personally."
His security responded. "You're certain you want to give this more attention than necessary?"
"Yes. I tagged a portion of that feed I found interesting. I want to see what's going on."
Entering his office, he looked at the little things that were slightly out of place, important paperwork that was left ignored. He sucked in a slow, careful breath, opening his mouth to catch more of the scent. Nothing. No wait...something? All he took in was his own scent and the lingering scents of his staff, familiar and safe. But he didn't catch any of her scent at first --it was so faint-- and that was also interesting. Suppressors? Why?
This little mystery just got a whole lot more interesting.

Tamlin seemed to be waiting for her and actually looked impressed when she produced the ring. She wanted to keep the pretty ring but Tamlin took it from her, claiming that she and what she had stolen was his. Feyre was grateful in that frustrated annoying moment that Tamlin had no idea that he had an Omega in his grasp. Feyre didn't want to be bonded to this asshole of a high lord.
As if she was a child, he ordered her to her bedroom and locked the door in her face, a smug smirk on his own. She pounded on the hardwood, ordering him to let her out and when Feyre realized that was futile she went to the windows only to find them locked.
Clearly Tamlin thought she was a flight risk. He was only half right.
no subject
Because there were more Alpha-holes out there than assholes.
It took a few days to get a plan of action in place and with a small laptop case, his finery pressed to the nines and impeccable, he walked up to the mansion as if he had a scheduled appointment, pretending to be completely oblivious of the scent he was exuding. Tamlin's staff were all a twitter with the unannounced arrival of the Alpha and that's exactly how Rhys wanted it. He needed to make certain there was enough confusion out there so his plan would work. The additional wild card was that he walked in solo without any security. Alphas tended not to do that because of their volatile natures and penchant for brawling. Rhys was confident that he had enough evidence to deter the temperamental Alpha from making a mistake.
Of course, Tamlin was being a brute during this meeting, nothing new there. He was mildly impressed that the other followed hospitality rules--barely, though. And Rhys kept poking the fae's temper, looking absolutely non plussed as he unlatched his case and provided the video proof that the girl had indeed stolen from him.
She was finally brought out to them and Rhys brightened into a smile. "There you are! I've been looking for you!" And he had been, considering the amount of resources the pulled to figure out who was stealing from him. "You took something from me that does not belong to you. A ring with a star sapphire. Unless Lord Tamlin here has decided to steal in order to entrap his bride," his eyes slid smoothly from the enraged Alpha and back to the girl, "it must be returned in accordance to the Alpha code: If you get caught, you get punished."
no subject
So she paled at the sight of Rhysand and his bright smile even though he was the most beautiful fae she had ever seen. Then she got a lung full of his and Tamlin’s scent, Rhysand’s was so much stronger, and the young human had to swallow hard and stop herself from squirming.
“I… don’t have it.” It was the truth as Tamlin had taken the ring as proof of her skills. Feyre swallowed hard, trying not to take in a deep breath, and took a step back. She had been locked away by herself for days, no matter how hard she banged on the door or yelled, and now she was being thrown to the Dark Lord. It was all a little too much for her and her bruised knuckles.
“There is no point in lying, you stupid girl.” Tamlin growled out as he moved to grab her by her arm and shove her towards Rhysand. Tamlin hadn’t caught on to the sweet smell of Omega as he manhandled her. “He has video proof that you stole from him. You thought stealing from a High Lord would keep your family safe?”
Feyre stumbled forward and fell at Rhysand’s feet as she was practically thrown there by Tamlin. Hands and knees smarting, Feyre turned her head and glared at Tamlin.
“You....” She had to think of her family, of her sisters, and she bit back her words. “Lord Tamlin took the ring from me… no doubt to give it back to its rightful owner. I don’t have it.” Her words were soft and spoken to Rhysand even though she was still glaring at Tamlin.
no subject
"So where's the ring, Tamlin? She claims you have it." Family? Safe? What the hell was going on with this Alpha? What strings did he have on this girl?
"She's. Lying." It came out more of a growl than anything else. The Alpha's eyes glowed with rage as he took a step closer to Rhys, who still hadn't moved. "I've never seen your ring with the star sapphire," he mocked, the growls barely words.
Rhys smirked, eyes narrowing just a fraction as allowed the Alpha into his space. "Really. Just like you haven't seen my mother or sister, am I right?" His voice was pure silk-edged with just a hint of steel. Before Tamlin's growl could crescendo, he changed his attention to the girl. "Very well. I'll take her then, as restitution."
"She's mine."
"Oh, not anymore. Not unless you want me to take all this lovely evidence to the Tribunal and begin a claim that you're harboring a thief that was seen in my personal office, stealing my very, personal things." Eyes flashing, he flicked them back to Tamlin who was still bristling, but no longer advancing. The Alpha was spewing his rage scent everywhere and there wasn't even an uptick in Rhysand's manners.
One torturous minute later and Rhys moved, straightening up and moving swiftly to the girl. "Well, then! That's settled, as always, the most extreme pleasure of doing business with you, Tamlin." He was efficient as he secured his laptop, walked over to the girl, and hauled her up by the elbow to make their way out. He didn't even slow down his progress to let her get her bearings, just tugged her along like a rag doll. "Do figure out how to hire some competent help. Your little pranks are becoming tedious."
He didn't even slow as they took the grand staircase to the receiving hall and then out the door, navigating more stairs and walking at a decent clip to the car that was in the front parade, engine purring.

She tried to pull her arm out of Rhysand’s grip, his delicious Alpha scent was calling to her but she was refusing to acknowledge it. Or at least that was what she was telling herself.
“I’m staying here. I have to stay here.” She hated Tamlin and she hated her room and she hated the manor but Tamlin was keeping her family safe. “Please… I don’t want to die.” She knew Rhysand would kill her because she was a mere human.
no subject
"Who said anything about dying?" he quipped lightly as he put on his seat belt, glanced at her, then peeled out. It wasn't until they were off the the grounds that he one-handed rifled through the center console storage, brought a plastic bottle to his eye level, then tossed it in her direction. "Here." Suppressors.
Then a small bottle of water that appeared from... somewhere. "Take them."
Rhys' eyes never left the road as he waited for her, merging into general traffic and hauling ass up north to his territory.
no subject
“What…” Feyre was so confused but grateful as she caught the bottle. They were a much better quality then she usually took but she couldn’t help but frown. “Why do you have these?” But she was opening the bottle and popped two pills into her mouth before she downed half of the water.
no subject
He had a fairly good idea why she would. If she were an Alpha, insecure little babies like Tamlin would get their panties all in a bunch. If she were an omega... Well. Suppressors were the least of her issues. Rhys decided he had no opinion either way, no matter how much his Alpha perked up at the sound of her voice. There were other mysteries to deal with before her status, the most important being getting that ring back.
"What the hell does he have lauding over you that you were stuck in his house?"
no subject
She didn’t say why she took the pills. Letting the silence fill the car for a moment.
Feyre looked at the High Lord, taking him in as he drove. He hadn’t killed her yet or harmed her in any way. Tamlin was more threatening than Rhysand was but the young woman had heard stories. Every human knew that the Night Court didn’t like humans.
“He is… was taking care of my family.” She would have to escape Rhysand and get back to them. They needed her. "I need to get back to them. You can just drop me off." Good try Feyre.
no subject
The half snort, half laugh was his response to her request to being released. "You are just the bold one, aren't you? What do you think will happen if I did that, darling? Do you think Tamlin is the reasonable one of the both of us and will allow you to go traipsing back through his territory to get to your family? Unscathed? You insulted him by getting caught and he isn't going to let that go."
Rhys turned his slightly mirthful, slightly predatory gaze to her. Pity suppressors were in pill form, he caught a whiff of her sweet scent and white knuckled the wheel again before kicking up the AC in the car and cracking the back windows open. "He will make the biggest example of you in the worse possible way. What type of bargain did you make with him about your family?"
no subject
Anxiety made her chest heavy as she feared what he would do with the knowledge that she was an Omega. He was powerful and not mated. He would be looking for an Omega. She needed to get away.
Her thoughts were proved correct when he cracked open the windows.
“I could get back home without being caught.” She looked away, looking out the window of the car. She wondered if it fully opened. “My father made a bargain that he couldn’t uphold with Lord Tamlin. I didn’t want my father or sisters killed so I offered my services as a thief. …Stealing from you was a test that I failed. Please take me home.”
no subject
"So in lieu of your family's death, you would steal for him?" His eyebrows lifted at that. "Why?" Why would Tamlin want a thief? Why would he want skills instead of what she truly was? Then again, Tamlin was an idiot and too susceptible to others' influence. The Alpha didn't know how to trust any instinct other than his rage.
"I'm not letting you go." The statement was clear and held a little of that Alpha command. He couldn't let her go at this point, not when he knew. "You owe me. Until that ring is back in the correct hands, you are not leaving. And you didn't say what was agreed upon between you and him. What if the high crime life didn't pay?"
Fuck, he still didn't have her name. Bargains first, names later.
no subject
“I didn’t even get a proper chance to steal for him. He sent me to you as a test. He wanted to know how good I was. I think he just wanted to piss you off and used me to do it.”
no subject
"A proper chance. This wasn't a proper chance?" Rhys' ire was rising even though his words still had a lingering aloofness. She had gotten into his secure home and she thought it had been some stupid little test? Of course, she didn't understand what was really happening and he wasn't in the mood to explain it to her, either.
Where he was taking her, he couldn't risk her knowing the location. A bit of glamor to make the car looking like it was traveling the same lonely highway and he could use his auto pilot memory to get to the place he was taking her. "Fine. If this is just some silly little game to you, thinking you're without fault and should simply be released without making right what you did, this can go to the Tribunal anyway. It won't matter that my property is no longer on you, there's enough video to prove that you did it." He looked at her, gaze harsh as he continued. "I wonder... what they will do to your family after dealing with you." Another pause. "Or what they will do to you once the suppressors wear off again."
Rhysand let that land heavy in the air, giving her time to process it. "Because, obviously, anything that I would do would be oh, so much worse than what they would do, am I right?" There it is, Feyre, your choice. Trust the High Lord or take your chances with the Tribunal. "I'm sure Hybern would love to hear what you've been up to."
Sorry! Life has been kicking any will to write out of me lately
She didn’t notice the glamor or the road that they were travelling on didn’t seem to really change as they drove. No, all of Feyre’s focus was on the Dark Lord and fading scent. She caught herself leaning in, wanting to press her face against his neck and the sensitive scent gland that was there. But Feyre tried to play it off as just shifting in her seat.
“Give me a reason to trust you.” She didn’t want her status to be known to the world. Feyre didn’t want her freedom and choice taken from her and she especially didn’t want her family to be harmed. “Because we are out of the city on some unknown road and I’m pretty sure you’re going to kill me.” Or worse, claim her.
Stupid RL sucking the fun out of everything. Hope it improves soon!
Her demands did things to his gut even if he didn't readily show it. "Kill you?" Feyre's reward on that assumption was an eyebrow raise. "Are you talking about the literal sense or the metaphorical sense? Because I'm pretty certain if I wanted to kill you, I would make absolutely certain that it would happen with my name panting from your lips and my head between your thighs."
And that would be a pretty sight in his opinion. But...first thing was first, safety. He knew all too well how omegas were hounded and it was by sheer stupidity on Tamlin's part that she was unscathed. For someone bragging about being the best hunter on anything, his nose sucked. That's what one gets for being a 'yes man.'
There was more driving, of course, and then the glamour stopped, suddenly showing the edge of a sleepy, winding settlement that tracked a part of the s-shaped river that seemed to cut through the mountains that weren't there a moment ago. And the settlement was large, as big as a small city! But the buildings looked old. Quaint. Comfortable. And Rhys parked the vehicle in a narrow cobblestone alley between two tall town houses. The alley itself was barely large enough to fit the car, much less have the doors open completely. It was a trick to open the door part way and wriggle out, which Rhys did with practiced ease, already striding to open Feyre's door to let her out.
"If you run, I'll chase you, and I'm sure you know how excited an Alpha gets when they can chase something, hmm?"
no subject
Well not physically at least.
Feyre’s mouth dropped open and her thighs squeezed together at his words. She could feel her body react, no doubt her scent thickening, as she pictured his dark head of hair between her thighs, his mouth on her, his eyes never leaving her.
“That… will never happen.” The young human swallowed hard and looked away. She stewed in her own thoughts, squirming as she kept picturing the Alpha between her thighs. She needed to get out of the tiny vehicle and his soft masculine Alpha scent.
She gasped and tensed up when the landscape suddenly changed. Where were they? They weren’t in the city anymore. Feyre had never left the city in her life. She had so many questions as she saw the sleepy settlement. But she wasn’t only curious but a little scared too. Feyre had no idea what was going to happen.
“What makes you think you can catch me?” Trying to hide how she felt, Feyre wiggled out of the car and came face to face with Rhysand and his chest. There was barely any room for them.
Swallowing hard and keeping her hands to herself she looked up at him. “Where are we?”
no subject
Focus, Rhysand.
"Oh, I can catch you, little darling," he purred, his eyes locked on her face. "Don't you worry about that." Before the lingering became torturous, he stepped away first, looking up at the wall of one of the buildings. "We're at my home."
Two which he was going to bring her inside. It wasn't that rich, opulent mansion she stole the ring from. This place was a little smaller, more compact, more....homey. The interior was so out of place for the High Lord that it was probably jarring. The scent of him and other Alphas were present, but nothing was alarming. And it didn't seem like anyone else was there, either- which could be a good thing or a bad one.
"There's four bedrooms and an attic suite upstairs. Whichever door is open, you can take your pick. I'll order more suppressors for you, if you like." Plunk went the car keys in the little dish on the counter. "Any dietary restrictions, let me know. Hobby preferences beyond lock picking and the like, I will have supplies brought here as well."
no subject
She watched him put the car keys in a little dish. Feyre had no idea how to drive but it couldn’t be that hard right?
“You… want me to live here? With you?” Feyre still hadn’t moved from her spot in the doorway. She had been off her suppressors for days, and while taking one in the car helped, it wasn’t doing anything about the strong powerful Alpha scent that was filling her lung with each breath. And causing her core to melt with need.
Her cheeks were already flushed from the car and standing too close to Rhysand but her eyes were getting a needy glassy look to them. One downside of being on suppressors since she showed, besides them being bad to take for a long time, was that she never had to properly control her inner Omega and its wild ways.
“You can’t be serious.” And yet it seemed like he was.
“I need some air.” Feyre backed out of the doorway and back into the cool night air. It felt nice on her flushed cheeks and the young human was able to take a full deep breath.
no subject
"If you want to take your chances out there, without any knowledge of the streets or the inhabitants...." He let that thought drift off. His people tended to behave but they weren't without their urges. A fresh Omega from the outside was easy pickings and he would rather not have her introduced to the town like that.
When she scurried back out he let her, even making certain he was clear from her path. He had to take a deep breath himself, closing his eyes and willing his Alpha to settle the fuck down and there was no reason why he should be acting like this! He's dealt with so many, ferried them to this sanctuary, why the hell was this one calling to him like this!?
Deciding that he needed to do something, Rhys headed into the kitchen to start in on something for a meal. He had no idea when she last ate and the girl looked like she needed a few pounds of good food in her. Rumaging in the fridge, he took out ingredients and the pans needed for chicken parm and focused on that between texts with is cousin about the new arrival. Of course she was squealing about it.
no subject
She stayed out there for a while, trying to figure out how she could get out of this mess but Feyre had a feeling that she was finally caught. The powerful Alpha inside knew of her secret. Her days as a free ‘Beta’ were coming to an end.
Taking one last deep breath of the clean night air, Feyre stepped back inside the warm home. The scent of powerful Alphas hit her but she was more prepared for it this time. She swallowed and pushed her horny inner Omega deep deep down.
The young human could hear the Alpha making noise and she followed it to see him in the kitchen. She stayed in the doorway, wary of him, but she stayed and watched him.
“Don’t you have people to do that?”
no subject
Straightening, he moved to look back at her. "The servants are for show and for the others. Do you have a wine preference?" He was still working on dinner but paused, once again offering a cocky smirk. "I am Rhysand. Well, my enemies call me Rhysand. Everyone else calls me Rhys unless they rather go by Dark Lord, High Lord of Nighmares, Human killer, blah blah blah..."
And then he waited. The prompt was silent but he waited for her name.
