World Lore
- The setting is a modern city bigger than New York called Prthian where humans and faes live and work and crime together in ‘peace’
- There are seven ‘courts’ that rule the city with an eighth being for the humans that hold no real power because they don’t have magic
- The Night Court is the biggest and most powerful which Rhysand of course rules
- Spring Court is the smallest and weakest of the courts with Tamlin trying to gain power and influence any way he can
- It is said that the Night Court is a death sentence for any human as the ‘evil dark lord’ can not stand humans and has them hunted down
- On top of Fae and Human species and the fun dynamics that brings we also have Alpha/Beta/Omegas
- Both Fae and Humans can be all three but Alpha Humans have no power
- Fae males gain power based on what they show as Alpha/Beta/Omega
- Omegas are rare and sought after because if an Alpha bonds an Omega they become even more powerful
- For some reason that I haven’t thought of yet Omega Humans have the ability to turn Fae when they bond with a fae Alpha
More to be added
Feyre Archeron had not had an easy life even though she was the youngest of three girls and her family was well off at one point. She lost her mother at a young age and her father lost what wealth they had shortly after that. So with a father that couldn’t work and two sisters that didn’t know how Feyre took on the responsibility of making enough for her family.
She took to the streets and the first couple of years taught her a lot of hard life lessons. But Feyre refused to give up and let her family starve. She became a thief, learning to pickpocket almost anyone, and then learned to spot the people who had more money than they really needed. Those people received a special visit from Feyre. She was good at being a thief and became better the more she did it.
There was one major drawback and that was when she Showed as an Omega when puberty hit her. All of her family were Betas and she assumed she was just like them. But life was cruel. Omegas were sought after: hunted down and forced to bond Alphas and Feyre didn’t want that life. She couldn’t help her family if she was taken away.
So her solution was to take an easy to come by suppressor that caused her to come off as a Beta . But being on the suppressor was not good for an Omega especially if they took it long term like Feyre was. She had been taking it for years and her health was being affected by it.
But what was going to drive her to an early grave was her family. Her father thought he could get their money back and had promised a large amount to the Spring Court High Lord Tamlin. Well whatever scheme her father had been counting on fell through and they ended up losing everything. Tamlin was going to kill them all when Feyre offered herself up to the Fae. As payment and to be his thief. The only thing she wanted in return was the promise that her family would be looked after.
A deal was struck and Tamling took Feyre ‘home’ not knowing that he had an Omega within his reach. And to test her and see how skilled Feyre was as a thief he ordered her to steal from the High Lord of the Dark Court: Rhysand.
Feyre had argued against the order and Tamlin had to threaten her family to get her to agree to do what he had commanded.
Knowing she was going to die but at least her family would be taken care of, Feyre started to study the dark High Lord and his home. She found a way in and out pretty quickly because who would be stupid enough to steal from the Dark Lord as everyone called him.
So on the night when there was no moon, Feyre silently slipped into Rhysand’s office through the third story window, and silently prayed to the Goddess as she looked for something to steal that hopefully the Dark Lord wouldn’t notice missing.
Stupid RL sucking the fun out of everything. Hope it improves soon!
Her demands did things to his gut even if he didn't readily show it. "Kill you?" Feyre's reward on that assumption was an eyebrow raise. "Are you talking about the literal sense or the metaphorical sense? Because I'm pretty certain if I wanted to kill you, I would make absolutely certain that it would happen with my name panting from your lips and my head between your thighs."
And that would be a pretty sight in his opinion. But...first thing was first, safety. He knew all too well how omegas were hounded and it was by sheer stupidity on Tamlin's part that she was unscathed. For someone bragging about being the best hunter on anything, his nose sucked. That's what one gets for being a 'yes man.'
There was more driving, of course, and then the glamour stopped, suddenly showing the edge of a sleepy, winding settlement that tracked a part of the s-shaped river that seemed to cut through the mountains that weren't there a moment ago. And the settlement was large, as big as a small city! But the buildings looked old. Quaint. Comfortable. And Rhys parked the vehicle in a narrow cobblestone alley between two tall town houses. The alley itself was barely large enough to fit the car, much less have the doors open completely. It was a trick to open the door part way and wriggle out, which Rhys did with practiced ease, already striding to open Feyre's door to let her out.
"If you run, I'll chase you, and I'm sure you know how excited an Alpha gets when they can chase something, hmm?"
no subject
Well not physically at least.
Feyre’s mouth dropped open and her thighs squeezed together at his words. She could feel her body react, no doubt her scent thickening, as she pictured his dark head of hair between her thighs, his mouth on her, his eyes never leaving her.
“That… will never happen.” The young human swallowed hard and looked away. She stewed in her own thoughts, squirming as she kept picturing the Alpha between her thighs. She needed to get out of the tiny vehicle and his soft masculine Alpha scent.
She gasped and tensed up when the landscape suddenly changed. Where were they? They weren’t in the city anymore. Feyre had never left the city in her life. She had so many questions as she saw the sleepy settlement. But she wasn’t only curious but a little scared too. Feyre had no idea what was going to happen.
“What makes you think you can catch me?” Trying to hide how she felt, Feyre wiggled out of the car and came face to face with Rhysand and his chest. There was barely any room for them.
Swallowing hard and keeping her hands to herself she looked up at him. “Where are we?”
no subject
Focus, Rhysand.
"Oh, I can catch you, little darling," he purred, his eyes locked on her face. "Don't you worry about that." Before the lingering became torturous, he stepped away first, looking up at the wall of one of the buildings. "We're at my home."
Two which he was going to bring her inside. It wasn't that rich, opulent mansion she stole the ring from. This place was a little smaller, more compact, more....homey. The interior was so out of place for the High Lord that it was probably jarring. The scent of him and other Alphas were present, but nothing was alarming. And it didn't seem like anyone else was there, either- which could be a good thing or a bad one.
"There's four bedrooms and an attic suite upstairs. Whichever door is open, you can take your pick. I'll order more suppressors for you, if you like." Plunk went the car keys in the little dish on the counter. "Any dietary restrictions, let me know. Hobby preferences beyond lock picking and the like, I will have supplies brought here as well."
no subject
She watched him put the car keys in a little dish. Feyre had no idea how to drive but it couldn’t be that hard right?
“You… want me to live here? With you?” Feyre still hadn’t moved from her spot in the doorway. She had been off her suppressors for days, and while taking one in the car helped, it wasn’t doing anything about the strong powerful Alpha scent that was filling her lung with each breath. And causing her core to melt with need.
Her cheeks were already flushed from the car and standing too close to Rhysand but her eyes were getting a needy glassy look to them. One downside of being on suppressors since she showed, besides them being bad to take for a long time, was that she never had to properly control her inner Omega and its wild ways.
“You can’t be serious.” And yet it seemed like he was.
“I need some air.” Feyre backed out of the doorway and back into the cool night air. It felt nice on her flushed cheeks and the young human was able to take a full deep breath.

"If you want to take your chances out there, without any knowledge of the streets or the inhabitants...." He let that thought drift off. His people tended to behave but they weren't without their urges. A fresh Omega from the outside was easy pickings and he would rather not have her introduced to the town like that.
When she scurried back out he let her, even making certain he was clear from her path. He had to take a deep breath himself, closing his eyes and willing his Alpha to settle the fuck down and there was no reason why he should be acting like this! He's dealt with so many, ferried them to this sanctuary, why the hell was this one calling to him like this!?
Deciding that he needed to do something, Rhys headed into the kitchen to start in on something for a meal. He had no idea when she last ate and the girl looked like she needed a few pounds of good food in her. Rumaging in the fridge, he took out ingredients and the pans needed for chicken parm and focused on that between texts with is cousin about the new arrival. Of course she was squealing about it.
no subject
She stayed out there for a while, trying to figure out how she could get out of this mess but Feyre had a feeling that she was finally caught. The powerful Alpha inside knew of her secret. Her days as a free ‘Beta’ were coming to an end.
Taking one last deep breath of the clean night air, Feyre stepped back inside the warm home. The scent of powerful Alphas hit her but she was more prepared for it this time. She swallowed and pushed her horny inner Omega deep deep down.
The young human could hear the Alpha making noise and she followed it to see him in the kitchen. She stayed in the doorway, wary of him, but she stayed and watched him.
“Don’t you have people to do that?”
no subject
Straightening, he moved to look back at her. "The servants are for show and for the others. Do you have a wine preference?" He was still working on dinner but paused, once again offering a cocky smirk. "I am Rhysand. Well, my enemies call me Rhysand. Everyone else calls me Rhys unless they rather go by Dark Lord, High Lord of Nighmares, Human killer, blah blah blah..."
And then he waited. The prompt was silent but he waited for her name.
no subject
“Feyre… you can call me Feyre and I’m not really hungry.” The suppressors messed with her body and Feyre never really felt hungry which she always considered a blessing. There wasn’t a lot of food to go around back home.
“Where are we? And don’t say your home. You know what I mean.” They weren’t in Prythian. She had no idea where they were. She hadn’t realized that the High Lords lived outside of the city.
no subject
Rhys didn't take it as a slight. Of course, there were many connotations about Alphas proving they could be providers by offering Omegas food but this wasn't the same. Not really, at any rate. He's made food for others in the past but he didn't feel the heavy meanings with them.
"This place," there was a pause as he looked around, thinking about how to word it. "Is a sanctuary. A secret sanctuary." Sharp eyes returned to her, serious and dark with warning. "This sanctuary is secret and unknown to the others. If anyone caught scent of this place..." Just thinking about what the others would do to his beloved city made him growl softly. Nothing had happened, of course, but the implication that something could happen almost had him pacing.
"This is Velaris. It has been a protected secret of my family line for centuries, warded and secreted away to the point where no one knows of its existence. And it will remain that way." His underlying threat was real this time. "You must promise that you will never breathe a word of it to anyone. Ever. People who come here seek refuge from the laws that Prythian believe to be just, no matter the person's status."
He should do something with his hands, prepare a salad. Yes, that would be useful. Rhys started doing that, working off some of his tension by tearing up the lettuce. "There's a reason why there is a shortage of Omegas out in Prythian, and it's not because they aren't being born."
no subject
She wouldn’t tell. If this was really a sanctuary for people then she wouldn’t ruin it for them.
The young human made a face at the implication that Rhysand was stealing Omegas away like he had just done with her. She didn’t like the thought of him with another Omega.
“So you have a harem of Omegas here? Steal them away and make them yours?”
no subject
"I'm an unmated, unbonded male."
The statement was clipped and succinct. He didn't look at her.
"The people who are here are those escaping the caste system that is imposed onto them just because of how they are born. Here, Alpha, Beta, and Omega have equal rights and are not considered chattel or should be 'owned' by anyone. If there are harems," he considered that a moment, "it is by their choice. It has taken many, many years to form this place, and it's not perfect everywhere, but one day...one day it can be."
no subject
She slowly moved further into the kitchen, the smell of food was enticing but nothing like the powerful Alpha that stood before her. The urge to press herself against him was strong but for now Feyre was able to beat back her inner most urges.
“Do you bring every Omega to your home? Or is this a one night stay and I’ll be shipped off to a group home or something tomorrow?”
no subject
"No." The answer was quiet and sincere. He didn't bring everyone to his home. Normally, they were utterly terrified of him, mostly because of rumors he had carefully cultivated, sometimes of the fact he was unmated and the allure was too much for them. Rhys was secretly thrilled she was holding back as she was! The corner of his mouth turned up into a smirk as he glanced at her. "Only Omegas that steal something precious to me."
That was a loaded statement. Was he talking about the ring or about--
Rhys turned slow and graceful back to the fridge to get the rest of the ingredients for the salad out, pausing a moment to gauge her reaction to him getting a knife to cut up carrots and other items.
no subject
Keeping her head held high and refusing to show any kind of doubt or fear, Feyre moved past him. She couldn’t stop herself from brushing against him as she moved past to the counter where he had been fusing with the salad.
She turned her back to the counter and with a little hop, she was sitting on it, a feet or two away from where he was working. She eyed the salad, trying to remember when was the last time she had anything fresh. It had been a very long time.
“So I’m your prisoner? Why is the ring so important? Is it an engagement ring? Are you courting an Omega?”
this was lovely to come home to after the day I've had!
Rhys continued to chop up the other veggies for the salad, taking extra time with the onions to counter the faint scent from her. Nothing showed on his face that she was tempting his Alpha way too much for his liking.
"Good thing I hire cleaners," he quipped back, throwing her a wry look. The barest touch on his back had shot lightening through his nerves and it was an act of will not to drop the knife and put her on the counter as she had put herself. Thoughts of ripping her pants away and planting her feet on the edge of that counter had him closing his eyes. He was better than all that. He did not give into his instinct like some animal driven to his urges with no rational thought ever. Not unless he was asked to do so. Nicely.
"You're not a prisoner unless you choose to label yourself as one," he started candidly, choosing to pick the easier question. The ring was a more delicate topic and after a contemplative look in her direction, decided that the truth was best.
"It was a gift from my mother. Before she and my sister were killed."
I'm glad I could make your day better!
She watched him cut the vegetables for the salad that he was making for himself. She couldn’t help but reach over to steal a piece of carrot and pop it into her mouth. She made a soft noise at the fresh taste and stole another piece.
“Am I allowed to leave the house? And live somewhere else?”
no subject
Getting back at him was not the priority now as he answered the next question, making quick work of cleaning the knife and cutting board to put them in the drying rack. "Yes, you're allowed to leave. If you wish to live somewhere else, that is also your choice. Bear in mind, though, that living somewhere else will require a job. A legal one," he added as a tease.
Chicken almost done, he busied himself around her, setting out place settings on the table along with glasses and utensils. Out went the giant bowl of salad and some dressing options before he returned. "You should get washed up." Not an order, but a coax. "Dirty hands near food?" There was the hint of a smile on his face as he waited for her response, trying to gauge how she reacted to that.
no subject
She watched the High Lord move around her as he set the table for them. It caused his scent to drift over to her and her eyes started to get glassy again with need. She swallowed hard and licked her lips as she pushed down those urges.
Feyre made a face at his gentle order and showed him her hands. “They are clean. Nicked and that cut might need a bandage but they are clean.” But she slid off of the counter. “Where is the bathroom?”
no subject
Rhysand gave her directions to the bathroom and he finished plating their meals, setting it all on the table and wondering if wine was the wisest thing. He had caught how she faltered and that might be concerning. If she had been on the suppressors for so long, going out, even in a place as safe as Velaris, could be problematic. Shit, even when he himself had taken one of the tabs, he still carried his scent and she was still reacting to it.
Another thing to ponder about. Later. When she returned, Feyre would find that he trusted her with proper cutlery, choosing to trust her. He perked up from his thoughts when she returned, gracing her with a little smile. "Ah, there you are, Feyre darling. Come, have a seat. Would you like anything to drink?"
no subject
There was another face made at ‘Feyre darling’ before she moved to sit down at the table. The food smelled so good but she just wasn’t hungry.
“Water will be fine. Should I be expecting anyone to show up? Or is it just us?”
no subject
The way her face scrunched up at his pet name for her had his eyes sparkling with mirth, the smile genuine on his lips. He was going to do it as many times as he could.
"I don't believe so. My brothers are out and my cousin is...somewhere," he pondered where Mor could be. He had mentioned that he was going to go get the ring back, but that had been hours ago.
He was quickly reminded of where his cousin was when the front door slammed open and a female's voice shot out. "Rhys! You're late! Did you get--oh. Oh~." She was pretty blond with warm eyes and well-muscled under her tunic sweater and leggings. "You didn't say you were bringing her here, Rhys."
"You didn't ask," Rhysand quipped, popping a bite of chicken in his mouth. "What am I late for?"
"The Party," she growled out but continued to grin at Feyre, bounding over to her. "Ignore that idiot, he's all bark, no bite. I'm Mor! It's lovely to meet you, he's told us that you managed to get under Az's security detail and that's impressive!" She gasped suddenly as if she had a genius thought. "You should come to the party, too! Everyone's going to welcome you. Polena," she canted back in Rhys' direction, "had invited the inner circle to this, considering this is for her only granddaughter. And some of the other children also presented so it's become sort of a street wide thing. To which Rhysand apparently forgot because there's a pretty girl in his house."
The chide had Rhysand looking very much caught as he feigned innocence. "I had been busy, Mor-"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Get your ass up and get moving. I'll get the food packed up." And then she was back, facing Feyre, giving her a critical eye. "You are wholly underdressed for that, though. But you're about my size, I think we can find something for you. My room's upstairs." It was a hint, a big one, for Feyre to come with her. But Mor stood there, grinning, nearly bouncing on her heels, waiting for Feyre to decide. Meanwhile, she was still verbally pushing Rhys around and he took it easily. Mor had no scent on her like she was a bigger Alpha, though, and the High Lord was looking more and more like a chastised puppy than some big, growly, dominating beast.
no subject
“I… what?” Her heart was racing and her scent overpowered any suppressor that was in her body as she looked between the two. They definitely weren’t acting within any kind of hierarchy that she had seen before. The High Lord was THE Alpha and yet this stunning blonde woman was ordering him around like he is a Beta or worse an Omega.
“A party? I…” A lot had happened within the last 24 hours and Feyre paled a little at the thought of dealing with a crowd on her own. But how do you turn down an Alpha?
no subject
"Mor," Rhys murmured softly even though he was in the process of at least putting food in the fridge.
"You've...you've never been to a presentation party? Like, ever?" That seemed to be the biggest travesty in the history of Prythian and Mor gasped, both her hands clutched together and pressed to her chest. "Oh, hun...that place is vile. And so is Rhysand," she canted again, turning her head over towards him, "for not explaining everything. Unless you're not staying. Why wouldn't you stay?" She worked to settle her energy now, softening more. "Which is probably why my excitement is so startling. Come with us. You need to see it's not bad here. And that the caste system shouldn't be so... rigid."
no subject
“I won’t be staying. I have family back in Prythian that I need to take care of.” She lowered the knife but kept a firm grip on it. “Once I get the pushy Dark Lord’s ring back I’ll be free.”
no subject
"She stole the ring," Rhysand contributed, closing the refrigerator door and standing to look at both women. "She retrieves the item she stole for the Spring Court, and then she is free to do whatever she wishes. If she doesn't help, then she can see what mercy the Tribunal has for her". Which was nothing. Rhysand knew that all too well and Tamlin was such a fucking push over for them."
That had Mor sobering even more as she bit her lip in thought. "Well. If you're planning for the future, you should see how Velaris is. Hear some of the others' stories so you can decide for yourself where you want to be. And your family. In the human sector, I take it? There'd be room for them, too."
Rhysand, oddly enough, did not correct Mor in her veiled suggestion. "If I'm late for this party, Morrigan, you're holding us up even more." There was no hurry with him, no rush to take charge in the matter, just cool aloofness while he flicked off a speck of nothing on his shirt.
"Ah yes! The party." She held out her hand to Feyre. "You can keep the knife, too, if it helps. Just don't be surprised if people wonder why you have a kitchen knife with you and not a dagger." That dazzling smile was back along with a hopeful look in Mor's eyes. Hoping she was getting a new friend out of all of this.
