"You don't trust him to keep his word." Not surprising. Rhys didn't trust Tamlin, either. "Your older sisters aren't capable of working?" They could be disabled. "And I'm assuming they're in the human sector, not in Spring Court's territory?" He knew there was going to be another job for Azriel.
"I believe that we're not supposed to be like this, so separated from each other and to have caste systems that promoted our weaknesses and not our strengths. Betas have it a little easier considering they aren't driven by instinctual urges. It's the Omegas and Alphas that have it worse. I think a long, long time ago, we all lived together in harmony, supporting each other's weaknesses so there was strength everywhere. And then something changed." He sighed softly, leaning forward on the railing and letting his hands remain droopy over the edge. "Alphas started to think that their aggression meant that they were supposed to dominate everything. Omegas generally don't have that, and it's easier to overpower them. Or, Omegas are bred believing that they have no power, no strengths. It's not true. I think they have more power than Alphas do.
"But that's why I have Velaris. It's been secret and unknown to Prythian for centuries. My family line has protected this land from the others, providing a place for people to come to an understanding that what drives them to behave purely by instinct isn't the best. It clouds reason and the need to be civilized and work together as a community. Our very nature forces us to be separate." He looked somewhat sad as he thought about it. "It's not a good thing. I think that if we continue to fall into line that our Omega and Alpha urges, continue to separate and think one person is better of another, we're going to destroy ourselves." Sighing deeply, he rubbed the spot between his eyes and above his nose, closing his eyes in the process. "And all the magic in the world isn't going to stop that."
